No Smart Role Models in America?

I echo Dean Kamen’s sentiment in the following online article, featured in the 6/17 issue of The Great Lakes IT Report:
“Every role model they have comes from Hollywood or the NBA or the NFL. When they see somebody making millions for throwing rocks at sticks, or for just being Britney or Paris Hilton, it’s pretty hard to get them to believe that to succeed, they should spend 10 years studying something really hard, like math … They want to excel, but they want to excel at what they see society celebrate.”

“We don’t have an education problem, we have a culture problem.”
