A few years back, Soar Technology Inc. (Soar Tech) had a problem. The artificial intelligence company based in Ann Arbor company needed to to a do a better job of recruiting and retaining the highly skilled employees that it needs. To address that Soar Tech insitituted a program that includes generous allowances for skill development and personal support such as services brought to the office and family-friendly social events. Why do all that at a time when jobs in Michigan are hard to find? In a Q&A this week, Deborah Webster vice president, administration at Soar Tech, says competition for top talent is ever-present, even in tough times. And once you have them, you want them to be engaged.
